SOCAR’s second filling station in Bucharest

SOCAR has inaugurated, on March 16th, a second gas station in Bucharest, coming up to 33 filling stations in Romania. This one is situated on Theodor Pallady Boulevard, number 50, sector 3. The station building covers 240 square meters, from a total area of 2,250 sqm. This gas station is equipped with three pumps, featuring four petroleum products. The Pallady station is the first to offer equipment for charging electric cars. This new investment generates 16 new jobs.

“Like every year, SOCAR continues to invest in the market of Romania and to expand its successful gas station network stations. Pallady station, inaugurated today, is the first gas station opened in 2016, thus reaching a total of 33 filling stations. I am confident that our products and services at the highest standards will be extremely well received by customers,” said Hamza Karimov, CEO of SOCAR Petroleum S.A.

Incorporated in the gas station are a little shop and a gastro area – Nar Café. The star products, as in all other SOCAR gas stations, are the traditional cuisine of Azerbaijan – sand coffee and pomegranate juice. Customers can purchase food and car accessories, regardless of season. If in need, tablets connected to internet come to help people to get quickly information. Also, drivers can pay bills, utilities, recharges from the self service terminals provided by SOCAR in all stations as far back as October 2012. The available ATM machine can be used for cash withdrawals, deposits or currency exchange.

Currently, SOCAR owns gas stations in Romania in the following counties: Botosani, Suceava, Neamt, Iasi, Bihor, Bistrita, Buzau, Bacau, Vrancea, Timis, Ilfov, Cluj, Valcea, Arad, Sibiu and Bucharest.

SOCAR is the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic, known worldwide for its production of oil and natural gas. Billions of dollars are invested yearly by the company in transportation’s infrastructure and is involved in European key projects designed to increase Europe’s energy security through diversification of natural gas resources.

Since 2011, the company has been active in Romania through SOCAR Petroleum S.A. The process of creating and consolidating a national network of gas stations is ongoing. Thus the company has become one of the major players on the fuel market of Romania. Up to this point the company has generated up to 450 new jobs and invested over 64 million euro in Romania.
