ENGIE Acquires 80 MW Wind Farm in Constanta County

ENGIE is acquiring a wind farm, majority owned by EnerCap Group, in Chirnogeni, Constanta County, an area known for its favourable wind conditions.

The Chirnogeni wind farm has a total installed capacity of 80 MW and an estimated annual net production of about 180 GWh, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 90,000 households.

ENGIE Romania already owns and operates 2 other wind farms in Braila and Galati counties, with a total installed capacity of 98 MW. With this acquisition, the company will almost double its existing green energy production capacity and will contribute, together with its solar energy assets, to accelerating the energy transition in Romania.

“The acquisition of the Chirnogeni wind farm marks an important step in ENGIE’s progress in renewable energy in Romania. At the same time, this investment strengthens the company’s presence in the green energy sector and makes a key contribution to achieving its stated goal of 1,000 MW of installed renewable energy capacity by 2030. With every initiative of this type, we support our commitment to a sustainable and efficient energy future,” said Cristian Buzan, Deputy General Manager ENGIE Romania.

Completion of the transaction is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2024, subject to certain approvals, including from competition authorities.
