Transgaz – GRTgaz Memorandum of Cooperation
Under the patronage of the French Embassy in Bucharest, Transgaz SA Romania and GRTgaz France signed, on May 25 in Bucharest, a Memorandum of Cooperation between the two national operators.
The memorandum was signed for the Romanian side by Transgaz Chairman of the Board – Ion Sterian, by the Transgaz Head of European Funds Accessing and International Relations – Ciprian Alic and for the French party by Thierry Trouvé – CEO of GRTgaz and by Laurent Théry – GRTgaz Director for International Development.
The signing of the agreement took place in the presence of His Excellency the Ambassador of France in Bucharest – François Saint-Paul, of the Secretary of State with the Energy Ministry – Aristotel Jude, and by representatives of French and Romanian companies.
“This memorandum is concluded between two leading companies in their field, GRTgaz and Transgaz. The initiative perfectly illustrates the cooperation and connections that may occur between our countries through professionals and volunteers. In this case, it is an agreement for the implementation of the European energy strategy in Romania,” said the French Ambassador in Bucharest.
Transgaz is the technical operator of the national transmission system and is responsible for its operation in terms of quality, safety, economic efficiency and environmental protection.
GRTgaz is one of the European leaders in the transport of natural gas and world expert for gas transportation networks and systems. In France, GRTgaz owns and operates 32,320 km of underground distribution networks and 27 compression stations for gas transmission between suppliers and consumers (distributors and industrial customers connected to the transport network). GRTgaz provides public service missions to ensure continuity of supply to consumers and trades transport services for the network users. Actor of the energy transition, GRTgaz invests in innovative solutions in order to adapt its network and to meet competitiveness, security of supply and environmental protection.
