Holcim Romania Acquires General Beton Romania
Holcim Romania acquired General Beton Romania, one of the most important local players on the production and selling of concrete. The transaction has received the approval of the Romanian competition authority.

“General Beton Romania LLC is such an example, it is a successful business, with tradition and experience of over 24 years on the Romanian market, with which we have a lasting partnership, being one of Holcim’s customers. We invest both in the expansion of our operations, through the acquisition of General Beton, but also in the increase of the existing production capacities through major investments in Holcim and Somaco plants. As part of the ‘Net Zero’ commitment, we have approved projects aimed at producing green energy, reducing CO2 emissions, as well as increasing the energy recovery of waste as alternative fuels in our cement plants,” stated Bogdan Dobre, CEO Holcim Romania & Market Head Moldova.
General Beton Romania LLC is one of the most important players in the local market of production and selling of concrete, with an extensive experience of over 24 years in Romania, owning 8 concrete stations in the main cities. Additionally, General Beton Romania is one of the clients with whom Holcim Romania has built a long-standing collaboration. With this transaction, Holcim Romania’s network of concrete stations will reach 27 units. The concrete stations are located in Arad, Constanta, Iasi, Brasov, Bucuresti, Cluj-Napoca, Craiova, Oradea, Ploiesti, Satu Mare, Sibiu, Targu Mures and Timișoara.
General Beton Romania has reported at the beginning of last year a turnover of 33 mil. Euro and it has approximately 160 employees. The company has founded the first concrete station in Timisoara in 1998, this being the first ecological concrete station, an innovation for the area at the time. Later, the company continued the expansion of stations and consolidation of the portfolio of products.
