Energy Tech Day 2022 - Developing Technology to Power a Safe and Fair Energy Transition

Energy Tech Day 2022 is a communication platform for senior management and top executives within the energy sector in Romania wanting to collaborate and discuss how to solve problems in the industry.

The event will be held on 25 May 2022 in Bucharest, once again uniting leading energy experts and highly skilled professionals to share their experiences on ground-breaking technologies, strategies, and investment programmes.

‘Low Carbon Energy Transition: Changing Prospects and Challenges’ is the main theme for this high-level conference.

Everything is changing! The COVID-19 pandemic has created significant challenges for energy transition. Furthermore, the war in Ukraine is changing energy geopolitics. The European Commission has decided to suspend the cooperation with Russian entities in research, science, and innovation. All ongoing projects, in which Russian research organisations are participating, are being reviewed – both under Horizon Europe and Horizon 2020, the previous EU programme for research and innovation.

Energy efficiency is changing, with new digital technologies enabling greater control, optimisation, and analytics. Harnessing digital technologies to enhance energy efficiency will require new policies and business models.

The EU aims to be climate-neutral by 2050 – an economy with net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. This objective is at the heart of the European Green Deal and in line with the EU’s commitment to global climate action under the Paris Agreement. Currently, fossil fuels still dominate the global energy system, accounting for more than 80% of the total energy supply. But the EU’s climate policy should strive for a fair and wise, and not a wild, energy transition, experts say. It should take account of diversification and the sustainable use of natural resources.

High-level Experts Gathering

Top national and international energy business leaders will address commercial, regulatory, geopolitical, and technical challenges impacting the future of the energy industry. Other important topics which will be approached are: mechanisms to promote a safe and fair energy transition, especially in the current situation; the European Green Deal challenges and opportunities; state-of-the-art technologies impacting each part of the value-added energy chain: sources, conversion, distribution, storage, usage; smart solutions to maximize efficiency, reduce costs and CO2 emissions; regulatory framework to stimulate innovation and investment; environmentally responsible energy uses; financing the industry.
