9th Black Sea Oil & Gas Conference

Bucharest will host 9th Black Sea Oil & Gas conference covering region’s upstream and midstream market and its onshore and offshore projects.

Black Sea Oil and Gas is a business conference focused on defining the latest trends in the region, highlighting innovative approaches and connecting its players to address the challenges. With support of the major market players, the 9th edition of the Black Sea Oil & Gas will take place in Bucharest on the 22-23 June.

With the recent escalation of war in Ukraine, and the ongoing European energy crisis along with new legal initiatives across the Black Sea region, energy security issues are becoming increasingly acute while the region’s role is becoming more crucial.

Major upstream operator companies, regulators, vendors, consultancies, legal and financial institutions, as well as industry associations will gather in person at the 9th Black Sea Oil & Gas conference.

Johann Raunig, Partner of McKinsey & Company, will present in the opening session with the topic: “Exploring the impact of increasing energy transition pressures on the oil and gas sector. The outlook on the future of energy and global trends”. The presentation will mention previous challenges in the region connected with the beginning of the energy transition and examine future energy trends.

Speaking of the necessity of gas storage in the region, Roxana Caliminte, Deputy Secretary General at Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) will present on the subject. Despite the current volatility, she will share her knowledge and talk about LNG terminals and gas storage facilities for strengthening energy security in Europe.

Alexandra Damascan, President at Serinus Energy Romania, will talk about the onshore upstream sector in Romania. This overview will focus on crucial energy security issues of the region and the important role of the onshore upstream sector that could have great investment potential.

Gregor Weinzette, Gas Specialist, and Adam Balogh, Senior Energy Infrastructure Expert at The Energy Community, will also introduce the “SEEGAS project: Cooperation of gas exchanges and transmission system operators in South-Eastern Europe to enhance the security of supply and diversification”. They will share their progress with the project and explain how it helps to move towards integrating exchange-traded markets for natural gas.

Participants will also discuss the EU Green Deal and pathway for Europe to reduce its dependence on Russian gas, updates on the status of the most significant projects in Romania, Turkey, Georgia and Bulgaria, possible scenarios for the future of energy in the Black Sea, among other topics.
