FEL Romania Launches 2nd Edition of the Mentorship Program Women for Women in Energy

Future Energy Leaders (FEL) Romania, the youth platform of the Romanian National Committee of the World Energy Council, announces the launch of the second edition of the Women for Women in Energy mentorship program — an initiative that promotes female leadership and gender diversity in the energy sector.

Spanning 12 weeks, the program includes four thematic mentorship sessions dedicated to professional development, leadership, and work-life balance. Its goal is to foster authentic connections between women who are advancing in their careers in the energy industry and established leaders in the field.

The 2025 edition brings together outstanding mentors — women holding key leadership positions in the energy sector:

  • Dana Daraban – Executive Director, ACUE
  • Mihaela Suciu – CEO, DEER
  • Anne Marie Gestin – Executive Vice President & CFO, ENGIE Romania
  • Lacramioara Diaconu – Country Manager, OX2 Romania
  • Andreea Popescu – General Manager, PPC Blue Romania

Alongside them, as mentees, will join members of the FEL Romania community:

  • Codrina Simionescu – Chief Legal & Strategy Officer, NextE
  • Ana Maria Albu – Managing Partner, Albu Attorneys
  • Ana Caldare – Advisor for Local Authorities Relations, DGSR
  • Iuliana Nita – Internal Public Relations Expert, CNR-CME
  • Andreea Dobrin – Legal Counsel, PPC Energie

“Women for Women in Energy is more than a mentorship program, it is a community of inspiration and support, where experience meets potential. We aim to offer young women the confidence, knowledge, and connections needed to become the leaders who will shape the future of energy.

We extend our gratitude to the mentors joining this edition for their openness, time, and expertise, which will contribute to shaping a new generation of female leaders in the energy sector,” said Iuliana Topor, Programs & Events Manager, FEL Romania.

The program is coordinated by Livia Marica, FEL Romania Member and Project Manager, who continues to develop the initiative launched last year, contributing to the consolidation of a community of professional women united by their ambition to harness their potential and support the growth of female leadership in energy.

Through her coordination efforts, the program has evolved beyond mentorship — becoming a space for dialogue and collaboration between generations, with tangible results since its very first edition.

Results of the First Edition (2024)

The inaugural edition of the program had a significant impact, both organizationally and across Romania’s energy industry:

  • Increased female representation: 60% of FEL Romania’s Board members are now women, compared to 40% in previous years.
  • Continued dialogue: Through the organization of the Women in Energy Conference (December 2024), which brought together over 100 participants and 24 speakers, moderators, and special guests. This year’s edition will take place on December 3rd at Crowne Plaza Bucharest.
  • Individual success stories: Participants from the first edition have since taken on new leadership roles, advanced their careers, or pursued further studies – all inspired and supported by their mentors.
  • International recognition: The program was nominated for the WEC Community Awards during the World Energy Week organized by the World Energy Council in Panama City earlier this year.

Through these results, Women for Women in Energy reaffirms the importance of mentorship and intergenerational collaboration in building an energy industry where women’s presence in leadership roles becomes a natural and enduring reality.
