Olivian Savin Appointed Young Energy Ambassador 2025 by the European Commission

Olivian Savin, Executive Director of FEL Romania and Technical Project Manager at Nano Energies Romania, has been selected for the Global Future Energy Leaders (FEL-100) programme of the World Energy Council, and also appointed as a Young Energy Ambassador 2025 by the European Commission, through its programme dedicated to young leaders driving the energy transition.

He joins the 25 newly selected members of the global FEL network, chosen from over 200 candidates across 54 countries, who will collaborate for two years to generate innovative solutions to global energy challenges and actively contribute to the World Energy Council’s vision of “Humanising Energy.”

In parallel, his selection as Young Energy Ambassador 2025 follows a highly competitive process with over 1,300 applications from across Europe. He is the only Romanian selected for this cohort. The 30 chosen ambassadors will serve a one-year mandate in which they will support the clean energy transition through local initiatives, awareness campaigns, and involvement in public policy development.

“I am honoured to be part of these two international leadership networks and to contribute to the discussions and projects shaping the future of energy systems. This is a valuable opportunity to deepen insights, foster collaboration, and make a meaningful contribution to driving change alongside passionate individuals from around the world,” said Olivian Savin.

Olivian holds a PhD in energy engineering and graduated as valedictorian from the Faculty of Power Engineering at the University Politehnica of Bucharest, specializing in hydro energy. He then pursued an international research master’s degree in France at Grenoble INP and worked at one of the most prominent players in the global energy sector – Electricité de France (EDF) – where he completed an industrial PhD thesis. He completed his academic studies in three different languages. Upon returning to Romania, he worked in energy regulation and currently leads the technical activity for independent aggregation at one of the first licensed companies in this field, Nano Energies. He has participated in leadership programmes such as Leaders and Aspen Young Leaders Program, and in 2023 he was included in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Romania list for his impact in the energy field. In 2025, Olivian takes over the leadership of FEL Romania as Executive Director, coordinating the Board and a team of over 35 young professionals from top energy companies in the country.

These two recognitions highlight the active and influential role that young Romanian professionals can play in building a sustainable energy future, both regionally and internationally.
