SCION Programme: Rezolv Energy to Accelerate the Energy Transition in SE Europe

SCION, with the strategic investment and support of Rezolv Energy, has concluded the first edition of the SCION Accelerator, a programme created to empower early-stage start-ups operating at the intersection of ecology, science, and scalable technology.

Over the past 10 weeks, the SCION team has guided and coordinated the inaugural cohort, culminating in the SCION Accelerator Demo Day in Bucharest. The event showcased a group of visionary Romanian and Bulgarian founders developing transformative solutions in CleanTech and NatureTech, ecosystem restoration, climate resilience, and biodiversity protection.

“Being part of the Accelerator’s first programme has been an inspiring experience. The ten teams are developing solutions with the potential to transform how we protect nature and respond to climate challenges. It has been a privilege to help refine these ideas and support their route to market,” said Jennifer Boca, Chief Sustainability Officer at Rezolv Energy.

The SCION Accelerator is among the first initiatives to be launched under Rezolv Energy Shift, a new platform through which Rezolv Energy will invest in people and innovation to accelerate a just and inclusive energy transition in South-Eastern Europe.

 

An intensive programme to accelerate solutions with real impact

Designed and delivered by SCION, the programme tackled systemic barriers faced by innovators in Romania and Bulgaria. Participants benefited from:

• Expert mentorship and hands-on guidance
• Deep-dive workshops on product development, capital raising and team building
• A growing cross-regional network across Central and Eastern Europe
• Ongoing support from both SCION and Rezolv Energy Shift

“At SCION we are very proud of the results demonstrated by the founders from the first cohort. It was a proof of the effectiveness of the next-generation acceleration program we designed that combines AI personalized content and world class lecturers and mentors. We are looking to contribute to the maturing of more innovators from the region that do good for nature and people,” Sasha Bezuhanova, Executive Chair of SCION, said.

As part of the Demo Day, the SCION Accelerator also announced three winning teams. Bulgarian venture Nomadium Robotics, led by George Petrov, was selected as the overall winner for its groundbreaking work in applying robotics to ecosystem restoration.

Two Romanian start-ups, Proon Tech and Solmag, were also recognised among the top teams for their innovative solutions advancing clean technology and environmental impact across the region. A special distinction was also awarded for the use of AI, which was received by the Romanian start-up alt.real.

“For us, the SCION Accelerator was more than a programme — it was a turning point. The support from SCION and Rezolv Energy helped us strengthen our mission and believe even more deeply in the role robotics can play in restoring nature. We leave more confident, more connected, and ready to build something meaningful,” George Petrov, Founder of Nomadium Robotics, the winning start-up, noted.

The Demo Day marks the end of the SCION Accelerator’s first edition, but also the beginning of a long-term collaboration with the participating teams, who will continue to receive support as they turn their ideas into solutions with real impact.

“This first cohort proves that the region has a vibrant ecosystem of talent and ideas – and it is just the first step. Through the Accelerator driven by SCION, we will continue to support the building of a more coherent framework for innovators working for the benefit of the environment,” Jennifer Boca added.
