Solar Energy Bucharest Summit 2025
Solar energy investments will reach €2.5 billion by 2030

Romania currently has an installed solar energy capacity of 4,500 MW, which is expected to reach 8,500 MW by 2030, according to government estimates. This expansion requires investments of €2.5 billion to develop an additional 4,000 MW over the next five years. Essentially, the solar sector will see investments exceeding €1 million per day until 2030.
- As Romania continues to develop renewable energy production capacities, energy storage becomes a crucial component of the energy transition, playing a key role in balancing the National Energy System. Storage solutions are indispensable for ensuring a stable and efficient grid.
- Investments in energy storage capacities are set to increase significantly in the coming years, given Romania’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and increasing the share of renewable energy in its national energy mix.
Global manufacturers of photovoltaic panels, inverters, and storage batteries will showcase the latest technologies for renewable energy production at the Palace of Parliament.
Developers and contractors of photovoltaic parks will take part in discussions at the conference and will host exhibition stands dedicated to business networking.
Investors and financiers will present financing solutions and business models for the solar sector, one of the most dynamic fields in Romania’s economy.
Providers of solar park development and management solutions, as well as insurers, leasing companies, and renewable energy software firms, will also be in attendance.
A total of 1,000 representatives from the most powerful solar energy companies worldwide, along with 50 exhibiting firms, will take part in Romania’s only TECHNOLOGY AND BUSINESS EXHIBITION FOR THE SOLAR INDUSTRY.
The Solar Energy Bucharest Summit will take place on March 18-19, 2025, at the Palace of Parliament, under the High Patronage of the Ministry of Energy. The event will be opened by Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja, launching a two-day marathon of discussions featuring 40 speakers. Authorities, experts, industry associations, project developers, and equipment manufacturers will conduct an in-depth analysis of the solar and renewable energy sector, identifying key directions for accelerating solar energy development in Romania.
At the 50 exhibitor booths, participants will have the opportunity to interact directly with company representatives, establish business collaborations, and explore the latest products and services in this rapidly expanding sector.
Romania currently has a solar panel capacity of approximately 4,500 MW, which is projected to reach 8,500 MW by 2030, according to government plans. This will require total investments of nearly €2.5 billion, with annual investments of around €500 million for the development of solar parks, installation of solar panels on farms, factories, warehouses, and residential buildings. In effect, this translates to over €1 million in investments per day until 2030. At present, the cost of developing 1 MW of solar panels is approximately €600,000.
