The 4th edition of the GREEN POWER SUMMIT – Vision 2030: Clean and Sustainable Energy for Romania, dedicated to promoting and developing sustainable energy sources in net-zero world, is slated to take place on October 20 at the JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel. The event brings together once again leading energy experts and highly skilled professionals, who will share their experience in ground-breaking technologies, strategies and investment programs.
This high-level communication platform for senior management and top executives in Romania’s energy sector encourages collaboration and discussion to solve problems within the industry.
Forecasts for a Greener Future
Romania has set ambitious targets in its official strategies: reducing net emissions by 85% by 2030 and achieving climate neutrality by 2050, according to the updated Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan (INECP).
By 2030, Romania forecasts over 10 GW of solar energy, 6.5 GW of wind energy, 4 GW/10 GWh of batteries, and over 70% of electricity consumption from low-carbon sources (TDP study). Romania has already made significant progress, achieving by 2022 85% of its 2030 target for net GHG emission reduction, with a projection of reaching 93% of the 2030 reduction target by 2025.
Over 40% of NRRP investments are directed towards climate projects, and cohesion funds have supported hundreds of energy efficiency and sustainable infrastructure projects in large and small cities. From the thermal rehabilitation of buildings to the expansion of electric transport, Romania has taken clear, albeit uneven, steps towards climate modernization.
By 2050, Romania aims to reduce primary energy consumption by 25%, while final energy consumption is expected to fall by a further 28% compared to 2022 levels. These targets reflect a dedicated commitment to sustainability and a greener future.
