Ukrgasvydobuvannya concluded milestone contract with Canadian producer of high-tech equipment MWDPlanet
JSC Ukrgasvydobuvannya concluded the contract with the Canadian engineering company MWDPlanet for manufacturing and supply of three sets of telemetry systems for controlled directional and horizontal well drilling. The price of the contract is USD 2.4 mln.
The contract was signed at the Embassy of Canada to Ukraine in the presence of Roman Waschuk, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine, Oleh Prokhorenko, Chairman of the Board of JSC Ukrgasvydobuvannya, Orest Logunov, Naftogaz Group Chief Procurement Officer, Felix Cherny, Chief Procurement Officer of JSC Ukrgasvydobuvannya, Mykhaylo Paduchak, Head of Drilling Department of JSC Ukrgasvydobuvannya, Borys Kucherenko, President of MWDPlanet, and Adam Barbolet, Commercial Counsellor at the Embassy of Canada to Ukraine.
It is worth noting that the conclusion of the contract directly with the equipment manufacturer became possible with the assistance of the representatives of the Embassy of Canada to Ukraine. Roman Waschuk stated that strengthening of cooperation between the largest gas production company of Ukraine and the leading Canadian manufacturers of equipment contributed to the development of trade and economic relations between the countries.
“The company will get quality equipment from the international manufacturer and the fair price, therefore it is an illustrative example of the mutually beneficial direct cooperation which will facilitate us to implement our objectives in drilling meterage increase. The supply of own telemetry systems by means of a direct contract with the manufacturer will allow Ukrgasvydobuvannya to reduce the expenses for procurement of third-party services for implementing the directional drilling projects in moderately difficult conditions. The company keeps a healthy balance between its own and external content of the drilling services,” said Mykhaylo Paduchak.
Borys Kucherenko stated that cooperation with JSC Ukrgasvydobuvannya as a flagship of the Ukrainian gas production industry opened the Ukrainian market for MWDPlanet, representing the Canadian high-tech business, and gave the opportunity to cooperate with other companies in the sector.
The engineering and manufacturing company MWDPlanet and Lumen Corporation, having almost 20 years of experience, is one of few leading developers and manufacturers of equipment and advanced technologies in underground telemetry, measurements and real-time transmission of data on geological formations during drilling.
Background
The state-of-the-art equipment complex manufactured by MWDPlanet is designed for measurements and real-time transmission of data on drilling assembly spatial orientation during drilling and geological formations of industrial reservoirs during controlled directional and horizontal gas and oil well drilling. Due to using this equipment it is possible to control well path according to geology of underground formations, drill at considerable distances, at critical temperature, in shock and vibration conditions, and under ultrahigh pressure, assess productive area geology at the drilling stage, reduce drilling rig downtime, get more productive well at minimal economic risks and minimize the expenses due to more efficient energy consumption.
The telemetry systems are planned to be used in well drilling using the resources of both UkrBurGas Drilling Division and the external drilling contractors.
