Workshop between employees and the graduates of UPG Ploiesti
“The correlation of skills acquired by the graduates of Petroleum-Gas University of Ploiesti (UPG) with the needs and demands of employers” was the theme of a workshop organized by UPG and The Oil and Gas Employers’ Federation (FPPG). The event took place on March 15, at the University’s headquarters, and brought together representatives of companies where the graduates of the technical faculties of UPG Ploiesti work, companies operating in the oil and gas industry (drilling-extraction, storage, refining, petrochemistry) and companies serving the oil and gas industry (petroleum and petrochemical equipment manufacturing, machine building as well as automation and information technology).
Representatives of over 70 companies responded to organizers’ invitation, the purpose of the action being to correlate the training of University students with employers’ requirements, given the unprecedented technological progress we are witnessing.
Knowledge of English, drawing up a CV with impact, personal skills presentation, own marketing, teamwork, knowing to professionally present their professional achievements and leadership training are some of the requirements that employers have from UPG graduates who want to work for them.
This was a first meeting of this type; the initiative being intended to become permanent. For this purpose, thematic working groups will be set up to produce facts, initiatives, deadlines and responsibilities. It was also proposed that students should be co-opted in the research groups and that companies donate to laboratories equipment or installations that are out of use in order to improve the students’ practical skills.
The workshop enjoyed a real success, the participants wishing to continue discussions on working groups and fields of activity.
