Technologies Essential for the Twinning towards 2050

Energy – one of biggest greenhouse gas emitters – is key for a successful twinning of the green and digital transitions. Technologies will play a key role in reducing these sector’s carbon footprint. By 2030, most reductions in CO2 emissions will come from technologies available today. However, achieving climate neutrality and circularity by 2050 will be enabled by new technologies currently at the experimental, demonstration or prototype phase.

The role of technologies in the new geopolitical context towards achieving climate neutrality and circularity by 2050 represents the main theme for the Power & Energy Tech Conference Vision 2050 – PETECH 2022.

Moving towards a green and sustainable economy is a global challenge and requires continuously cooperation among key energy players to achieve European Green Deal objective for Europe to become the first climate-neutral continent by 2050.

Power & Energy Tech Conference Vision 2050 takes a leadership role with the introduction of a dedicated conference and exhibition that covers a range of new technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, IoT, Big Data Analytics, Edge Computing, Blockchain across the energy sector.

Energy efficiency is also a focus area for this event. Energy efficiency is changing, with new digital technologies enabling greater control, optimisation, and analytics. Harnessing digital technologies to enhance energy efficiency will require new policies and business models.

This third edition of the Power & Energy Tech Conference is an opportunity to demonstrate unity in accelerating the transition towards carbon neutrality.

EUR 31.5bn Available for Romania from Cohesion Policy

Romania will receive a total of EUR 31.5 billion from Cohesion Policy in 2021-2027 in the framework of its Partnership Agreement with the European Commission to promote the economic, social, and territorial cohesion of its regions and its green and digital transition.

EUR 4.33 billion from the European Regional and Development Fund (ERDF) will support Romania’s innovative and smart economic transformation.

EUR 6.75 billion from the ERDF and Cohesion Fund will be invested in the green transition, in green energy, reduction of carbon emissions, environmental infrastructure, biodiversity conservation, green spaces, risk management and sustainable urban mobility measures.

EUR 2.3 billion will improve the energy performance of residential and public buildings and to develop in renewable energy sources and smart energy systems. This will reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions and support the decarbonisation of the energy sector.

EUR 2.14 billion from the Just Transition Fund (JTF) will alleviate the social and economic impact of the green transition towards a climate neutral economy. JTF will target the Romanian regions most negatively affected by phasing out coal and lignite, focussing on the transformation of energy intensive industries.
