Corina Popescu is the new CEO of Electrica

The Board of Directors of Electrica SA and the CEO, Dan Catalin Stancu, have agreed to cease collaboration as of 1 November 2018. Georgeta Corina Popescu was appointed, in the same meeting, interim CEO.

“The entire Board of Directors expresses its deep gratitude to Catalin Stancu for his contribution to Electrica management,” Elena Doina Dascalu, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Electrica SA, has stated. “During the term, Catalin has initiated significant changes that have improved the processes and the working arrangements, generating performance in the future. He was a valuable person for Electrica in this period full of challenges. We wish Catalin a lot of success in his future projects.”

“It has been a privilege to lead Electrica during this transformation period. It was important for me, in particular given that previously I had a long history in the company and, therefore, I strongly identified with it. I am convinced that I have taken many steps for the development and modernization of Electrica, confirmed by the current financial results. I wish the company to have an increasingly better evolution in the future,” Catalin Stancu said.

The Board of Directors will immediately start a transparent recruitment process, through the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, to select a successor.

To ensure continuity, the Board of Directors appointed as interim CEO, for a period of one year or until the appointment of a new CEO, Mrs. Georgeta Corina Popescu, currently CEO of Societatea de Distributie a Energiei Electrice Muntenia Nord, part of Electrica Group.

Corina Popescu holds the position of CEO of Societatea de Distributie a Energiei Electrice Muntenia Nord, part of Electrica Group. Graduate of the Faculty of Power Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, the Electrical Power specialty, Georgeta Corina Popescu started her professional career in the Bucharest Electricity Distribution and Supply Branch.

Starting with 2007, Georgeta Corina Popescu moved to the private sector, where she held important positions within E.ON Romania Group and OMV Group.

During December 2015 – February 2017, Corina Popescu held the position of State Secretary in the Ministry of Energy. In March 2017, she was appointed in Transelectrica’s Management Board, and as of 1 June 2017 – President of Transelectrica’s Management Board.
