Electrica Completes Satu Mare 2 Photovoltaic Park
Electrica, one of the main players in Romania’s energy sector, has announced the completion and commissioning of the Satu Mare 2 photovoltaic park, a strategic project that marks an important step towards diversifying its production portfolio and consolidating the company’s role in the energy transition.
Located near the commune of Botiz, Satu Mare County, the park has an installed capacity of 27.056 MW and represents an investment of over €20 million.
The project includes a 27.056 MW photovoltaic power plant, a 110/20 kV user transformer substation, and connection works to the distribution grid, being partially financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP). It will contribute to increasing the share of renewable energy in the Electrica Group’s energy mix, reducing carbon emissions, and ensuring clean and affordable energy for local communities and the national economy.
“The completion of the Satu Mare 2 photovoltaic park is more than just an investment; it is concrete proof of our commitment to Romania’s sustainable future. This project demonstrates that we can turn funding opportunities into investments with a direct impact on communities and the environment. We will continue to develop similar projects that will allow us to increase our production capacity from renewable sources, reduce our carbon footprint, and strengthen Romania’s position in the energy transition,” Electrica CEO Alexandru Chirita said.
The commissioning of the Satu Mare 2 photovoltaic park reinforces the long-term strategic direction of the Electrica Group, which aims to develop sustainable energy projects, diversify the portfolio and integrate modern technologies to meet the efficiency and environmental requirements.
Through its investments, Electrica reaffirms its role as a reliable partner in achieving national and European decarbonization objectives, contributing to a greener and more competitive economy.
Electrica Group is a key player in the electricity distribution, supply and production market in Romania and one of the most important players in the energy services sector.
