Eximprod Opens the Cudalbi 2 Wind Power Plant
Eximprod Group officially opens of the Cudalbi 2 Wind Farm, with an installed capacity of 38.4 MW, representing a modern renewable energy.
The project, developed through Smart Power Generation Alfa, consists of seven ENERCON E-160 EP5 E2 wind turbines, each with a tower height of 120 meters, a rotor diameter of 160 meters, and a nominal capacity of 5.5 MW. The turbines can produce over 106,000 MWh of green electricity per year, enough to power more than 40,000 households. Each megawatt-hour generated represents clean energy, local development investment, and a direct contribution to achieving Romania’s 2030 climate goals.
The German turbine supplier Enerco provides operation and maintenance services, ensuring the wind farm’s guaranteed availability.
“The 38.4 MW Cudalbi 2 Wind Power Plant project is proof of the ability of Romanian teams to deliver complex energy infrastructure at international standards. It is an investment in Romania’s energy future, built with passion, innovation, and responsibility,” said Gheorghe Manole, co-founder of Eximprod Group.
The newly inaugurated project marks the first stage of a broader initiative that will integrate a 38 MW photovoltaic power plant and a 36 MW/36 MWh energy storage system. By combining wind and solar generation with storage capacity, Cudalbi becomes a model hybrid project, designed to address the challenges of the energy transition and the growing need for flexibility in Romania’s national power system.
Construction of the wind farm — from the notice to proceed to the first megawatt-hour injected into the grid — was completed in just 12 months, demonstrating efficiency in implementation and coordination among all involved teams. The works were carried out with the local expertise of Eximprod Group companies, together with experienced partners who contributed decisively to the project’s success, such as Lemacons Galati, Electromontaj Carpati Sibiu, and Prelchim Ramnicu Valcea.
The wind farm is connected to the National Power System through a new 33/110 kV substation and a 9 km 110 kV overhead transmission line.
The Cudalbi 2 project, with a total investment value of 75 million euros, was financed through a balanced mix of bank financing from Banca Transilvania and equity from investors.
The investment benefits from 9.6 million euros in funding through the European Union’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), under the support scheme for developing renewable energy generation capacities. It is the first wind project under the NRRP to be completed in full compliance with the funding contract requirements.
“Through this project, we are making a tangible contribution to Romania’s decarbonization targets and to increasing the share of clean energy in the national mix. The 38.4 MWmCudalbi 2 Wind Power Plant is another step in a series of Eximprod investments in wind, solar, and energy storage,” added Gheorghe Manole, co-founder of Eximprod Group.
The inauguration of the Cudalbi 2 Wind Farm takes place in the presence of local and central authorities, project partners, investors, and the Eximprod team, who together celebrate the successful completion of a major green energy investment.
The event also marks 20 years of activity in the renewable energy sector for Eximprod – since September 27, 2005, when the company obtained its first wind power generation license, a milestone that paved the way for the development of today’s portfolio of green projects.
