New Milestone for Hidroelectrica: First Project for the Installation of Photovoltaic Panels
Hidroelectrica has signed a contract for the turnkey completion of the project “Harnessing the photovoltaic potential of hydropower plants located on the middle and lower sections of the Olt River.”
The project represents an important step in the company’s strategy to diversify its renewable energy sources and make efficient use of existing infrastructure.
The contract was awarded following a competitive procedure in which four bids were submitted, with Servelect SRL being designated as the winner and Electroplus SRL as subcontractor. The contracted value is RON 9,047,382.16 excluding VAT, with a completion deadline of 24 months (4 months for design and 20 months for execution).
The works will include the following main activities: design; manufacturing/procurement, packaging, transport and delivery of equipment; preparatory works for installation; assembly of equipment and facilities; factory and on-site testing and inspection; putting systems into operation.
The main purpose of the investment is to increase the capacity for renewable electricity production by installing photovoltaic systems on the roofs of the 20 hydropower plants owned by SPEEH Hidroelectrica SA, located on the middle and lower sections of the Olt River.
The objectives are to use the region’s photovoltaic potential by building renewable energy production systems (REPS) reducing CO2 emissions, correlated with reducing own technological consumption (OTC) with the effect of optimizing production costs and improving the efficiency of the exploitation and utilization of the electricity produced, as a result of the synergy between the use of production capacity from photovoltaic sources and that from hydro sources on site.
The photovoltaic system consists of 620 W photovoltaic panels, 100 kW inverters and energy optimizers, with an installed power in the panels of: 2,955.58 kW, and the energy produced will be: 3,710.87 MWh/year.
This investment marks a first for the company, as it is Hidroelectrica’s first photovoltaic panel installation project.
The company thus reaffirms its commitment to the promotion of renewable energies and the modernization of production infrastructure, in line with the national strategy of transition to a green and sustainable economy.
Hidroelectrica owns and operates the Crucea Nord Wind Farm with an installed capacity of 108MW, the power plant being in operation since 2014.
Hidroelectrica is the largest green energy producer in Romania and provides technological services essential for the National Energy System. The company operates 188 power plants with a hydropower capacity of 6.4 GW, and, in addition, it owns a wind farm in Crucea, with an installed power of 108 MW.
